Brumcan - answering a need
Brumcan is a not-for-profit recycling enterprise offering a range of integrated services aimed at achieving sustainable solutions to the ever-growing problems of waste in the West Midlands. Established in 1991 by Friends of the Earth and Community Service Volunteers we now provide paid employment for 13 members of staff(as at May 2006) and offer training and work experience placements for up to 25 trainees per year who support our aims, including long term unemployed people and those with special needs. We are also supported by a large number of volunteers, such as local residents and employees from local businesses who help to encourage greater participation in the recycling services provided.
Your role in our environment
In partnership with Brumcan you will be helping to play your part in making a positive difference to the area in which we live.
Benefits of recycling with Brumcan
Any surplus income derived from our operations is used to:-
- Raise environmental awareness through the philosophy of waste as a resource
- Fund educational and community outreach work with local schools, youth and community groups
- Provide good quality training for local people who have been long term unemployed or who have special needs, to help with skills development and social inclusion
In practice we achieve our aims by organising workshops, presentations and talks, and provide education and community development services through a joint partnership programme with local authorities known as 'Waste Action - for local schools and local community groups'.
Brumcan Limited is an ENTRUST Enrolled Environmental Body, Enrolment number : 468012
