LDV LPG VAN GETS SET TO CLEAN UP BIRMINGHAM

A Birmingham recycling charity is on the move thanks to light commercial vehicle specialist, LDV.

As part of a two-year deal, LDV is lending regional recycling charity BRUMCAN an environmentally friendly Convoy LPG-fuelled van so that the organisation can further its work in the local community.

BRUMCAN was established in 1991 to advance education relating to the benefits and environmental importance of recycling waste materials and generally to improve the physical environment of Birmingham and the surrounding area.

The charity's general manager, Lorna Langdon, accepted the new van on behalf of the organisation. She said: "The van will be invaluable in our work in the Birmingham and Solihull area. The main task will be to collect office waste materials such as paper, cans and printer cartridges from companies and organisations in our area."

LDV's quality manager, James Billingham, handed over the vehicle to BRUMCAN. James said: "This is a great initiative and we're delighted to be involved. Not only does BRUMCAN do an excellent job collecting and recycling waste material, the charity is also a great supporter of the community, giving valuable work experience to the long-term unemployed and people with special needs."

LDV was introduced to BRUMCAN through the 'Better Together' partnership, which includes Birmingham City Council, The CBI, Birmingham & Solihull Chamber of Commerce, Birmingham & Solihull Connexions, Birmingham Forward and Business in the Community.

LDV designs, manufactures and distributes the widest range of panel vans and their derivatives in Europe, as well as automotive pressings. The company currently markets two product ranges, Pilot and Convoy.
